Getting to the Bay Area
Download your convenient TRAVEL PACKET and DIRECTIONS.
The easiest airport options are San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK). You can also choose San Jose (SJC) but it will add about an hour to your trip to Gualala.
You can rent a car at any of the airports, or take a BART train (SF and Oakland) or Caltrain (San Jose) into San Francisco if you're staying in the city for a few days before the wedding. You probably don't want a car during your stay in the city - parking is notoriously painful and expensive, and although there are hills it's a relatively small, walkable city.

Getting to Mar Vista
35101 South Highway One, Gualala, CA 95445
It's a long, windy drive up the coast, and can get foggy in the late afternoon thru sundown, so we strongly recommend giving yourself plenty of time to spare. Go too fast and you'll end up over a barrier in a long drop to the Pacific! Stay safe -- we love you!
Group Transportation Option
If you are concerned about making this drive yourself, or do not wish to rent a car, please let us know and we will assist you in coordinating group transportation. Depending on how many people request this, we may also set up a shuttle departing from San Francisco -- please let us know if you would like such an option.
Direct route, San Francisco Airport to Mar Vista - 3 hours
The short version:
Scenic route, San Francisco Airport to Mar Vista - 4 hours
You can also take the scenic route that follows the coast almost the whole way.
Shortly after you cross the Golden Gate, just after Sausalito, take exit 445B onto Highway 1 and follow it all the way to Mar Vista. If the weather's nice you'll get beautiful coastal views at Stinson Beach and Point Reyes National Seashore; you can stop for fresh oysters in Tomales Bay; visit the historic Russian settlement at Fort Ross; and just enjoy the trip. Be warned that it's an even longer, more windy drive, and will add another hour to your trip.
